Residents can now enjoy a reduction or exemption from rent for public housing, local media reported on April 28.
In early February, the municipal construction bureau announced that families facing economic difficulties, major illnesses (and who is categorized under the “minimum living security object”, or is disabled above the second level, or who is disabled in multiple ways, or who suffers from a disease with high medical expenses), or who can’t pay their rent on schedule during the epidemic may be exempt from rent for public housing for two months.
For families unable to pay rent on time due to the epidemic, it will not be counted as overdue and will not be included on their personal credit record. Families that can obtain rent subsidies for public housing or are waiting for such subsidies will be reissued rent subsidies.
So far, the bureau has received a total of 76 applications for rent reductions/exemptions from families living in public housing.
